Tarynn Liv Parker
Editor and Founder
“The Okanagan is in my bones, in my blood.”
Very much a product of the Okanagan terroir, Tarynn Liv Parker was born, bred and schooled in the Okanagan. Although she spent a decade abroad living in New York, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai, she has always returned home to the Okanagan.
“Perhaps it’s the mnemonic smells of summer—of the pine trees in the heat, of the grapes pushing in their skins,” she says. “But there’s a pull for me to return, and now to chronicle, celebrate and share with others my profound love for this place.”
Tarynn has been a graphic designer and photographer for the past 15 years. Her accomplishments are best seen in her popular British Columbia publication called The Field Guide, a handy website that directs readers to the best and most interesting food and wine venues across the Okanagan and beyond.
She lives in a beachfront cottage in Summerland, where her family has resided for several generations—it’s equidistant to the farthest points north and south in the Wine Country.
Tarynn is a student of wine and certified sommelier, and has completed the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) training to the advanced Level Three and plans to continue her wine education—roaming the vineyards, barrel dipping with winemakers, studying the alchemy that is wine.
