Piggy's BBQ Tribute Dinner 2014 at Covert Farms
On August 2nd at Covert Farms Organic Winery and Farm, Chef Derek Uhlemann hosted one of their annual Farm Field Dinner Series events, The Piggy's BBQ Tribute Dinner. "Piggy's?" you say? This was Derek and Sunnie Uhlemann's beachside restaurant on Penticton famous Lakeshore Drive strip where they cooked up good old soul food- that is, classic BBQ meats, salads, slaws, buttermilk everything, biscuits and all the trimmings you want to see on your summer bbq plate beside your succulent BBQ.
Due to real estate changes the Uhlemann's had to shut her down… and now Derek is General Manager at Covert Farms Organic Winery. It's a property built for fun and family set amidst the organic farm. Derek is responsible for the wine shop which has an extensive selection of local "farm-to-table" products, among the countless other tasks of keeping an organic winery running smoothly.
The dinner was an easy $25 for all the food you can eat - it's all that and glass of organic wine. Derek and Sunnie's primary intention at Piggy's Tribute Dinner is to serve up some GOOD HONEST FOOD, and we think its better than a good honest price for a priceless experience in the Okanagan. See you next year!
