A Recap of Yesterday's Oliver Osoyoos Wineries Association (OOWA) Event In Oliver - The Half Corked Marathon, A Yearly Sell-Out!
When registration day begins, this event is sold out before the day is through. With over 800 tickets allotted to the much needed lottery system of admission to the race, it really shows that the Half Corked Marathon has become one of the most highly anticipated events in the Okanagan, and in the world of Canadian wine events.
Modelled after the Marathon du Beaujolais Nouveau, Marathon du Medoc and other great winery races of long standing tradition, this race is made for fun. Don't come to set a marathon record. Aim to create a great memory, and maybe win a costume contest. Entrants are in costumes of all kinds. The great get-ups include brides, martians, and team themes. You are sure to be entertained by the creativity while running from table to table through vineyards, down highways and into fields, for the 15 odd participating wineries' pours of their latest vintages paired with local bites.
To learn more about the event and to prepare for your participation in the perennial favourite of the Oliver Osoyoos community and the many who travel to participate, visit their page on http://www.oliverosoyoos.com/halfcorked.
