Weekend Reservations: Local Lounge + Grille, by Roslyne Buchanan

To give visitors the condensed version of our idyllic lifestyle in the Okanagan, take them to Local Lounge • Grille. Enter the nondescript building after parking, and pause to share lines cribbed from the Twilight Zone: “You are about to enter another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination.”
First they’ll notice the funky Urban design and windows showcasing a stunning view of Okanagan Lake. Cue a bird sanctuary in the foreground and beyond the sparkling waters, a symphony of vineyards, orchards and hills. The menu exemplifies Pacific Northwest regionally-inspired cuisine with seasonal local ingredients elevated to exquisite delights by Chef Lee Humphries and team.

With Christa-Lee McWatters Bond the driving force behind the local wines, contemporary cocktails and craft beer selections, inspired by the iconic wine legend, her Dad Harry McWatters and hubby/managing director Cameron Bond, the transportation is complete. It’s an armchair vignette of what’s great, fresh and local in living here.
The land of imagination continues in daily features. Until April 30, check out Tuesday $14 pasta, Wednesday 20% off featured winery and $28 three-course meal, Thursday sponsored girls night out with two for one appetizers, $5 drink deals with door prizes, Friday $28 slow roasted prime rib dinner, every day 5 to 6 pm five for $6 sample bites, and weekend brunch. We were recently treated to brunch. While my husband raved about his eggs benedict, for me, it was a transformative chef’s breakfast of perfect eggs, bacon and homemade sausages, Jalapeño cheddar cornbread, roasted tomato and hash browns.
I zipped through a portal to the best of breakfasts enjoyed in the United Kingdom and can bear witness to Chef’s roots in England.
Open daily, Monday to Friday from 5 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 3 pm for brunch and 4 to 10 pm for dinner. http://www.thefieldguide.ca/Local-Restaurant
