Weekend Reservations: Meet me at The Bench, Roslyne Buchanan

When a visitor asked me where the bench was that everyone liked to gather, I realized just how engrained “Meet at The Bench” has become as an Okanagan colloquialism.
The reason goes way beyond its handy location and casual ambiance up Vancouver Avenue as you head from Penticton to Naramata. It truly is one of our culinary gems in the Okanagan. Recently purchased by its Executive Chef Stewart Glynes and wife Heather (Business Manager), the Bench is a mecca for those who love wholesome goodness and fresh, local cuisine. Enjoy a light breakfast, gourmet lunch, baked goods and amazing coffee using fresh-roasted beans from Summerland’s Backyard Beans, a true micro roastery. Pick up scrumptious takeaway meals like the amazing pizza, pastas and soup as well as many gourmet market items such as housemade granola, local honey, cheese, and jams. It’s also a great choice for catering.

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, you’ll find it packed until 2 pm with eggs Benny aficionados. You can even get a half order if you’re like me and need to temper the quantity. On Friday it’s all about made-from-scratch doughnuts and who counts calories on weekends!

As the sun smiles upon the Valley once again, you’ll find the outdoor seating overflowing with smiling faces. If you like to plan ahead, see daily specials on their Facebook page listing although you can count on the kitchen to delight you any time you drop in!
Open daily, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 5 pm; Saturday, Sundays and Holidays from 8 am to 4 pm.
