KELOWNA, BC –  Schedule details and the writing faculty for the 5th Okanagan Food & Wine Writers’ Workshop have just been announced. “I’ve got another amazing lineup of Canada’s top food and drink editors this year. Writers of all levels will learn so much from this talented roster of instructors,” says Workshop producer and food writer Jennifer Cockrall-King.

This year’s faculty includes Anita Stewart, creator of Food Day Canada, author and co-author of 14 books on Canadian food and wines, and senior editor at Taste and Travel magazine. Stewart is also Canada’s first food laureate. Neal McLennan is an award-winning writer, food and travel editor at Western Living magazine, and spirits columnist at Vancouver magazine. Roslyne Buchanan is a Penticton-based journalist and communications strategist working as a freelance food, drink, travel and lifestyle writer for various local and online publications. Nancy Wise of Sandhill Book Marketing Ltd is a self-published author, book marketer and publishing veteran with expertise in food, drink and lifestyle books. Jennifer Cockrall-King, food writer and author of Food and the City, food columnist for Eighteen Bridges magazine, and founder of the workshop rounds out the 2014 faculty.

The 2014 Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop takes place May 9 to 11, at The Cove Lakeside Resort in West Kelowna. Until March 15, writers can register at the early bird pricing of $495 (regular pricing is $575 after March 15). The workshop registration includes all meals, professional development sessions and Kelowna wine country experiences on the program. Also for the first time, the workshop takes place during Spring Wine Festival, which will enhance the experience of the writers.

“At its core, this workshop is about bringing writers together in an environment where they can learn from the fantastic instructors and experts, and from one another,” says Cockrall-King. “It’s essential to me that writers really feel empowered and inspired to finally dive into that food or wine writing project that has been simmering in their brains for so long by the end of the workshop.” Many alumni of the Okanagan Food & Wine Writers’ Workshop have gone on to launch cookbook and blog projects, as well as getting published in major publications.

Okanagan Food & Wine Writers’ Workshop gratefully acknowledges the support of its partners at Tourism Kelowna, Distinctly Kelowna ToursThe Cove Lakeside Resort and BC Tree Fruits.
