Blind Tasting with OkanaganWine.Club

Last night I was invited to the first of what I believe will be many fun and educational Okanagan wine blind tasting evenings put on by the well known facebookers "I Love Okanagan Wines", a page that has captured the eyes of 20,000 plus Okanagan wine enthusiasts.

The evening was jam packed with wine... from A, B, C all the way to Q, including whites, rosés, reds and fruit wines. The wines were shrouded in the customary brown bag, so as not to reveal the wine's label to the 20 guests in attendance to test their local wine knowledge and palettes. Hors d'oeuvres and easy going banter fuelled the night of consumption of some 20 bottles of wine tasted, tested and voted on for the next Okanagan wine sample pack that the club is trusted in for supplying  to its membership.

We caught the evening in pictures. We will see you at the next blind tasting put on by these guys soon. In the meantime, join the club - for free and without commitment - at okanaganwine.club now or learn about them on their TFG Member page. We are also happy to announce that we have begun to contribute to their bi-monthly newsletter with local Okanagan wine news and event highlights.

Cheers!

The evening begins with a few bites and some time for members to get to know each other.

As promised at the chosen location, Wine & Art Bar in Kelowna, there was wine and art!

Cheerful guests were seated with tasting notes and score sheets for the lengthy list of Okanagan wines

A well appointed "tasting station"- personally labelled too. Nice touches OWC!

Skilled servers ready your pouring arms! There they are- A to Q!

Meet Ivan Gonzalez, one half of the partnership that pioneered the Okanaganwine.club

And meet Joel Raitt, the other half of the team, and founder of the hugely followed "I Love Okanagan" facebook page

The pouring of the wines began with whites, followed by rosés and finally reds

Eager members taste through the wines, guessing the varietals, the subregions, the producers

Once all tasted, the reveals began, awarding the best overall consumer's choice from whites, rosés and reds from the member's score card tallies.

Here's the list:
