Play at Big White

Picture yourself gliding down the pristine slopes, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of snow-covered mountains at Big White Resort. The resort boasts over 2,765 acres of skiable terrain, catering to all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner learning the ropes or an advanced rider seeking challenging runs, Big White has something for everyone, including the Telus Park, with a racetrack, rail slides, jumps and a half pipe. Secret tip for finding Tarynn on the hill… She has a special place in her heart for the trees around the Powder Chair.

For those who prefer a different kind of thrill, tubing at the Big White Tube Park is a blast. Imagine racing down specially designed lanes on an inflatable tube, laughter echoing as you spin and slide through the snow. It’s a delightful activity for families and friends alike.

If you’re up for a more serene adventure, snowshoeing is a fantastic way to explore the winter wonderland at a slower pace. The marked trails guide you through snow-covered forests and open meadows, offering a peaceful escape into the snowy wilderness.

Alongside the snowshoe trails is an excellent Nordic Ski trail system. Tarynn and Matt are avid Nordic fans, and love the terrain of the Big White Nordic runs. Lots of ups and towns, fun curves and absolutely magical scenery. It just might be Tarynn’s most wonderfully favourite time of year, when the season starts and she gets fresh tracks. You can take this kind of skiing either way too, make it hardcore full body cardio, or make it a serene glide through the forest.

For the more adventurous souls, ice climbing is an exhilarating option. The resort provides opportunities to climb frozen waterfalls, adding a vertical dimension to your winter escapades. It’s an experience that combines physical challenge with awe-inspiring natural beauty.

As the day winds down, hop on a charming sleigh for a scenic ride through the snow-covered landscape. The gentle jingle of bells and the crisp mountain air create a magical atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of activities.

Or, keeping the sporting activities going with Night Skiing on the Bullet Chair, or the crazy fun Tube Park, or skating and hockey on the ice rink. Bring your S’mores kit because they’ve usually got a blazing bonfire to cozy up to.

And when night falls, Big White comes alive with its vibrant apres-ski scene. Cozy up in a mountain lodge or explore the restaurants and bars, enjoying delicious cuisine and perhaps some live music to complete your day in this snowy paradise. Big White Resort is more than just a destination; it’s an immersive winter experience that caters to a diverse range of interests and preferences.

Dining at Big White Resort

Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia, Canada, has become a bonafide culinary destination. Keep in mind that the offerings do change, but as of my last update, you can find these favourites. If you know me and my long culinary history, you’ll know I am a food-first kind of person!

  1. 6 Degrees Bistro: Fine dining in the jewelbox that is Six Degrees is a true delight – intimate, thoughtful and full of elegant flavour. Expect masterful Okanagan wine pairings, and make sure to enjoy the Après festivities they offer daily at their luxurious slopeside patio in the Stonebridge Complex!
  2. Underground Pizza: Maybe Tarynn spends a little too much time at “the big table at the window” at Underground Pizza… because it is a place where friends gather, and the pizza and beers are perfect! The history of the name “Underground” comes from the days when John Mooney used to run it in the lower level of the VCM (that is the main lodge)- it has been a fan favourite since, and yes, they deliver!
  3. Snowshoe Sams: The legend continues! Purchased back a few years ago by one of the founding families, Snowshoe’s* has gotten a legendary upgrade! The company that has created the Kelowna favourites – BNA Brewing and Bernie’s Supper Club & Cinema – brings their exceptional hospitality and care for details to us up on the hill. Don’t miss this experience! Top notch bar classics, ski hill favourites and healthier options available on this delicious menu.
  4. The Woods: A cozy spot for après-ski, featuring comfort food and a selection of beverages. It’s right in the middle of the village so you can’t miss it, and it will likely lure you in with its festive patio atmosphere.
  5. Globe Café & Tapas Bar: A real foodie hub for Big White – Chef Ross’ team serves comfort food with culinary mastery. All longtime Chefs on the Canadian culinary stage. Another do-not-miss!
  6. The Bullwheel: Family in the front, party in the back… You’ve got all the options here, from family dining to delicious cocktails all made by seasoned Chefs, bartenders and with wine pours selected with a Sommelier’s guidance. Another super patio facing out to the gondola, and super views.
  7. Black Diamond Bar & Grill: A popular choice for pub-style food and drinks, the food never disappoints with options from casual fare to fine dining. A great beer list, and all you need for a great Après moment!

This list tends to be grow and change, so please stay tuned and be sure to ask for Tarynn’s up-to-the-moment advice!
